Had dinner with Paris residents Monique Wells and her husband Tom Reeves. They contacted us via Facebook and offered their assistance. We figured we would take them to dinner and hit them up for lots of info on Paris. And we were right, they are a wealth of information. While Monique helped Pamela translate a local spa brochure, Tom suggested a local photographer who could take me on a “photo safari” around Paris.
Tom and Monique are a very interesting couple. They met while living in California almost 20 years ago during a French language class and now live in this beautiful city sharing their insights with others via their website, custom itineraries, private tours, newsletter and book.

Monique and her husband run the www.DiscoverParis.net website offering “Personalized Itineraries for Independent Travelers.” Creating customized written travel plans for individuals. They also offer private “Paris a la carte” tours taking visitors on a variety of interesting excursions. Later in the month, when their schedule opens up, they invited us to take one of their tours. More then.
The couple also publishes a monthly paid subscription newsletter about Paris which is available on the site. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but after glancing at the book that Tom wrote last year it should be interesting. Tom’s book, “Paris Insights: An Anthology”, is a collection of past articles and photos from the newsletter.
If you are enjoying the idea of visiting Paris for 30 days then Tom’s book may be for you. It isn’t a nuts and bolts tourist guide but a description of the sights, smells, and tastes that makes Paris what it is today. “This is what Paris is really like” says Tom. He also says he fresh summer strawberries are just fantastic as is the honey from bee hives here in the city. Check out his book and blog at www.ParisInsights.com .
And can you believe it…I ate frog legs as an appetizer!!!! And they were pretty good!
