Day 1: Our BridgeStreet Paris Apartment - BridgeStreet is an International corporate housing company with thousands of temporary rental units around the world. They are most often used by corporate human resource departments to easily move employees from one location to another. But more and more travelers are recognizing th...e ease, reliablity and value found in corporate tempoary housing.
Our arrival couldn't have been easier. BridgeStreet arranged for a driver to meet us at the Paris airport. He picked up our keys and welcome packet on the way to our apartment. Access to the unit is via an electronic code and keychain fob.
The large one bedroom unit is very simple but well equiped. A small bedroom, shower/laundry room, toilet room, and a large main room. See apartment video. Storage is perfect for a couple but would be tight for any more guests. The sofa in the main room pulls out into a bed and a roll-a-way single bed is stored in the closet. Kitchen is well equipped.
Due to the recent crackdown by Parisian officials on unapproved short-term rentals we decided to not go with a private for rent by owner apartment. Officials say that these units drive up the cost of rentals for locals and takes rental units out of the long-term rental inventory. By using a more corporate offering it also allows our readers to have easier access to an accomodation that is like the one we are using. Also with Pamela's health issues the clear cancellation policy, backed by an International company, was important.
Bridgestreet also offers many services a private renter can't. No deposit and a generous cancellation policy. Weekly housekeeping service. 24 Hour emergency maintenance. The ablity to have packages shipped to the local Bridgestreet office who then has housekeeping deliver them into the apartment.
Rental apartments like this are not cheap. They are a much better deal than a hotel room, but not as cheap as some rent-by-owner. We are paying 160 Euros per night. This is expensive, but for it's size, with it's excellent location, and great services, we think it is well worth it.
NOTE: We are paying all costs for this trip including our BridgeStreet apartment rental. Bruce
